World Health Assembly #WHA75

Women in Global Health are sending their first delegation to the World Health Assembly (WHA) since achieving Official Relations status with the World Health Organization (WHO) earlier this year.

The seventy-fifth WHA is held from 22-28 May 2022. The theme of this year’s WHA is: Health for peace, peace for health. In a world threatened by conflict, inequities, the climate crisis and pandemics, the WHA will stress the importance of building a healthy and peaceful planet by harnessing science, data, technology and innovation.

The World Health Assembly is the main decision-making body of WHO and is comprised of 194 Member States. At the WHA, country delegates make decisions on health goals and strategies that will guide their own public health work and the work of the WHO Secretariat to move the world towards better health and well-being for all.

Women in Global Health will be tracking progress on five areas throughout the WHA:

  1. Health Workforce

  2. Universal Health Coverage

  3. Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response

  4. Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment in Health

  5. Gender Equity in Leadership
