Upcoming Webinar: Gender Justice in Global Health: What it means for Australia and the Region
Women in Global Health – Australia is convening a webinar to explore concrete ways forward following the publication of The Lancet Commission on Gender and Global Health. As global momentum for gender equity in health grows, we will reflect on the Commission’s calls to action and critically examine Australia’s role – nationally, regionally, and globally – in driving gender-transformative change across health systems, leadership, and policy.
We are thrilled to announce that Professor Fran Baum AO will join us as a keynote speaker. Prof Baum is Director of Stretton Health Equity at the University of Adelaide and an NHMRC Investigator Fellow. Her research spans the social and commercial determinants of health equity and sustainability, shaping policy and practice both nationally and globally. A Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, and the Australian Health Promotion Association, Prof Baum has long championed a vision of fairer, more inclusive health systems. Prof Baum will reflect on the Lancet Commission on Gender and Global Health, of which she is part of. Join us to hear from one of Australia’s leading voices on gender, justice, and global health transformation.
Along with Prof Baum, you’ll also hear from two esteemed panellists for a QnA session:
Heather Keighley GAICD
Chief Remote Area Nurse, CRANAplus | Chair, National Rural Health Alliance | Vice-President, Australian College of Nursing
Dr Adele Murdolo
CEO, Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health
Together, they’ll unpack what gender justice truly means for global health with real stories, bold insights, and actionable change.
Join us as we bring together advocates, researchers, and decision-makers to map strategies that advance gender equity in health governance and ensure Australia’s commitments translate into sustained, inclusive action.
